**Michael Fassbender** (Heidelberg, 1977) is a German-Irish actor, known for his intensity and versatility. His film career took a turning point with Steve McQueen's *Hunger* (2008), followed by the international success of Quentin Tarantino's *Inglourious Basterds* (2009).

He has consolidated his reputation with complex and often tormented performances. Among his most acclaimed roles are the portrayal of sexual addiction in *Shame* (2011), the ruthless slave owner Edwin Epps in *12 Years a Slave* (2013) – for which he received an Academy Award nomination – and the iconic Apple co-founder in *Steve Jobs* (2015), earning another nomination.
