**Michel Constantin (1924-2003)** was a French actor and icon of crime and noir cinema. Characterized by his imposing physique, husky voice, and distinctive “gueule” (tough face), he played rough but often loyal characters.

He was often cast as gangsters, tough cops, mercenaries, or stern male figures with a code of honor. His career took off in the 1960s. A favorite collaborator of Jean-Pierre Melville, he shone in films such as *Le Deuxième Souffle* (1966) and *Un Flic* (1972). Other memorable performances include Georges Lautner's *Les Tontons Flingueurs* (1963), which cemented his fame.

Constantin left an indelible mark on French cinema thanks to his authentic style and unmistakable stage presence.
