
Nigel Terry
Nigel Terry (Bristol, 1945 – 2015) was a British actor, primarily known for his iconic role as King Arthur in John Boorman's epic film *Excalibur* (1981). His film career also includes playing John (Lackland) in *The Lion in Winter* (1968), his screen debut.
Terry was renowned for his intense presence and his ability to embody complex characters, often historical or tormented. He was a frequent collaborator with director Derek Jarman, appearing in several of his art-house films, including *Caravaggio* (1986), where he portrayed the painter, and *The Garden* (1990). His acting style was characterized by a profound seriousness and considerable gravitas.
