
Oh Yeong-su
**Oh Yeong-su** (born October 19, 1944) is a South Korean actor. His artistic career has been predominantly theatrical for over fifty years, participating in more than 200 productions.
He achieved international fame in his later years thanks to his role as Oh Il-nam, “Contestant 001,” in the globally successful Netflix series *Squid Game* (2021). This performance earned him a Golden Globe Award for Best Actor in a Limited Series or Television Film, making him the first South Korean actor to win such an award.
Although best known for *Squid Game*, he has appeared in several minor film and television productions over the years. His acting style is distinguished by his ability to embody elderly characters, often characterized by wisdom, enigmaticity, or vulnerability, with a measured but profound stage presence.
