Otto Sander (1941-2013) was a German actor, renowned for his prolific film career and his unmistakable deep and resonant voice. He is universally recognized for his role as the angel Cassiel in Wim Wenders's "Wings of Desire" (Der Himmel über Berlin, 1987), which cemented his international fame and where his subtle and melancholic performance became iconic.
Sander appeared in several significant productions, including Wolfgang Petersen's "Das Boot" (1981) and Volker Schlöndorff's "The Tin Drum" (Die Blechtrommel, 1979).
