Paolo Lombardi
Paolo Lombardi (1945-2001) was an Italian actor, particularly known for his prolific film career, especially in the *commedia all'italiana* (Italian-style comedy) genre.
Specializing in character roles, Lombardi often portrayed authoritarian or bureaucratic figures: office managers, military personnel, public officials, or doctors. These characters, seemingly serious or stern, were invariably involved in grotesque situations, revealing a surreal or pathetic brand of humor.
He remained etched in the collective imagination for his participation in numerous films of the *Fantozzi* saga, where he often played colleagues or superiors of Ugo Fantozzi, such as in *Fantozzi contro tutti* (1980) or *Fantozzi subisce ancora* (1983). He also appeared in other famous comedies from the 1980s and 1990s, including *Grandi Magazzini* (1986) and *Scuola di ladri* (1986), alongside well-known figures of Italian comedic cinema. His understated but incisive style made him a familiar and appreciated face, a staple of popular comedic cinema.
