**Paul Fix (1901-1983)** was a prolific American character actor whose film career spanned over five decades.

With his chiseled face and authoritative presence, Fix became a familiar face, specializing in supporting roles such as sheriffs, doctors, military personnel, lawmen, or more ambiguous and tougher figures. He was particularly associated with the Western genre, appearing in numerous films alongside John Wayne, his close friend and frequent collaborator.

Among his most significant performances were the sergeant in "Red River" (1948), the doctor in "Rio Bravo" (1959), the elderly doctor in "El Dorado" (1966), and, notably, Judge Taylor in "To Kill a Mockingbird" (1962), a role for which he is perhaps best remembered by the general public. His versatility allowed him to range from dramas to action films, leaving a lasting mark as a solid supporting performer.
