Paul Sorvino (1939-2022) was a prolific American character actor, known for his commanding presence and for often portraying authoritarian figures or complex characters.

His most celebrated role is undoubtedly that of the mobster Paulie Cicero in Martin Scorsese's masterpiece, *Goodfellas* (1990), a memorable performance for its cold intensity and understated magnetism. Sorvino showed great versatility in films such as *A Touch of Class* (1973), which earned him a Golden Globe nomination, and as Secretary of State Henry Kissinger in Oliver Stone's *Nixon* (1995).

Throughout his film career, he often excelled at bringing to life policemen, protective fathers, enigmatic figures, or crime bosses, often with a vein of vulnerability hidden behind a tough facade. His deep voice and imposing demeanor made him a recognizable and beloved face in cinema.
