Paul Stewart
**Paul Stewart (1908-1986)** was an American actor, best known for his incisive portrayal of the cynical reporter Raymond in Orson Welles' masterpiece, *Citizen Kane* (1941).
A prolific character actor, Stewart distinguished himself in roles as tough, skeptical, often ambiguous, or menacing characters. His husky voice and determined bearing made him ideal for playing detectives, gangsters, lawyers, or unscrupulous businessmen.
Among the other significant films in his career are *The Window* (1949), the classic noir *Kiss Me Deadly* (1955) where he plays the sinister Carl Evello, and *The Big Heat* (1953). His screen presence helped to give depth even to secondary roles, leaving a distinctive mark on Hollywood cinema.
