Peter Falk (1927-2011) was an American actor celebrated for his iconic portrayal of Lieutenant Columbo, but also with a significant and acclaimed film career.

His film career includes two Academy Award nominations for Best Supporting Actor for *Murder, Inc.* (1960) and *Pocketful of Miracles* (1961). Falk excelled at portraying ordinary characters, often disheveled, with a good-natured appearance but surprisingly sharp and human.

His acting aesthetic, rooted in naturalism and authenticity, made him a key collaborator with director John Cassavetes. With Cassavetes, he made seminal films such as *Husbands* (1970) and *A Woman Under the Influence* (1974), works that explored the human psyche with raw honesty. Other memorable appearances include the grandfather narrator in *The Princess Bride* (1987) and himself in Wim Wenders' *Wings of Desire* (1987), solidifying his reputation as a versatile actor beloved by audiences.
