
Peter Simonischek
**Peter Simonischek (1946-2023)** was an Austrian actor of great talent and versatility. Although his career was also deeply tied to theatre, particularly to the Burgtheater in Vienna, he achieved international renown primarily through his intense film performances.
His most iconic and acclaimed role was that of Winfried Conradi / Toni Erdmann in Maren Ade's eponymous film (2016). This performance, which earned him the European Film Award for Best Actor, highlighted his extraordinary ability to blend drama and comedy with naturalness and profound humanity.
Simonischek was known for his ability to bring complex and multifaceted characters to life, often playing paternal or authoritarian figures imbued with vulnerability and authenticity.
