
Rance Howard
**Rance Howard** (Duncan, Oklahoma, 1928 – Los Angeles, 2017) was an American character actor with a long and prolific career. He distinguished himself in hundreds of film and television roles, often in supporting capacities.
He is best known for his frequent collaborations with his son, acclaimed director Ron Howard. He appeared in many of his most acclaimed films, including *Splash* (1984), *Cocoon* (1985), *Apollo 13* (1995), *How the Grinch Stole Christmas* (2000), and *A Beautiful Mind* (2001).
