Raymond Aimos

**Raymond Aimos (1889-1944)** was a French character actor, an emblematic figure of French cinema in the 1930s. Known for his slight build and gravelly voice, he specialized in portraying common characters, often humble, unfortunate, or on the fringes of society, perfectly embodying the "man in the street."

His film career was closely tied to the French Poetic Realism movement. Among his most memorable performances are those in iconic films such as Julien Duvivier's **Pépé le Moko** (1937), where he played the loyal friend Jojo, and **Le Quai des brumes** (1938) and **Le Jour se lève** (1939), both directed by Marcel Carné. Although often in supporting roles, his screen presence lent authenticity and a touch of melancholic humanity to the productions he was part of.
