Raymond Meunier
**Raymond Meunier (1920-2010)** was a notable character actor in French cinema, known for his intense presence and weathered face. His career was distinguished by his portrayal of often marginal but memorable roles, lending authenticity to working-class characters, criminals, or austere and silent figures.
He is particularly remembered for his collaboration with Jean-Pierre Melville, who cast him in key works such as *Le Doulos* (1962), where he played the enigmatic and loyal Silien alongside Jean-Paul Belmondo. He enriched the cast of numerous other genre films, such as *L'Armée des ombres* (1969), also by Melville, *Le Clan des Siciliens* (1969) by Henri Verneuil, and *Le Vieux Fusil* (1975).
Meunier was a master at giving depth to secondary characters, turning them into narrative pillars with his understated but incisive acting.
