**Richard Alexander** (1902-1989) was an American character actor, primarily active from the silent film era to the early sound era. With his imposing physique and rugged face, he specialized in roles as antagonists, tough guys, sheriffs, soldiers, and brutes.

Among his most memorable performances is the role of the German soldier in Lewis Milestone's *All Quiet on the Western Front* (1930). He was also a recurring presence in the popular *Flash Gordon* serials (as Prince Barin in *Flash Gordon's Trip to Mars*). He also appeared in numerous B-movie Westerns and horror films such as *The Bat Whispers* (1930). His long career made him a recognizable and reliable presence in the cinematic landscape of the era.
