
Rudolf Klein-Rogge
**Rudolf Klein-Rogge** (1885-1955) was a German actor, an iconic figure of silent cinema, particularly of Expressionism. He is renowned for his roles as sinister, powerful, often evil or obsessive characters. His striking features and intense gaze made him perfect for these portrayals.
He was director Fritz Lang's frequent collaborator, playing some of his most memorable characters. He is best known for his portrayal of the brilliant and Machiavellian Dr. Mabuse in *Dr. Mabuse, der Spieler* (1922) and *Das Testament des Dr. Mabuse* (1933). Other iconic performances include the inventor Rotwang in *Metropolis* (1927) and the brutal Attila in *Die Nibelungen* (1924). He also appeared in *Spione* (1928) and briefly in *M* (1931). His magnetic style and his ability to embody menacing figures made him one of the most recognizable faces of German cinema of the era.
