Ruy Guerra
Ruy Guerra (Lourenço Marques, 1931) is an influential Mozambican-born Brazilian director, screenwriter, and producer, a pivotal figure in the Cinema Novo movement. While primarily known for his directing and films such as *Os Fuzis* (1964) or *Eréndira* (1983), Guerra has also occasionally ventured into acting.
His roles, often supporting or cameos, are characterized by a measured and intellectual presence. Among his most significant performances is his role in Glauber Rocha's *Terra em Transe* (1967), where he portrays the journalist Felipe Vieira, a role emblematic of the era's intellectual fervor. He has also acted in some of his own films, such as *Os Fuzis* (1964) and *A Queda* (1976), often in roles reflecting his auteur vision. His acting style does not rely on grand dramatizations, but on a subtle portrayal of often contemplative or critical characters, contributing his unique presence to the cinematic landscape.
