Salvatore Cascio

**Salvatore Cascio** (Palazzo Adriano, 1979) is an Italian actor, primarily known for his early and memorable cinematic performance.

He is renowned for the role of child Totò in Giuseppe Tornatore's multi-award-winning film "Nuovo Cinema Paradiso" (1988). His performance, characterized by disarming naturalness and great expressiveness, earned him the BAFTA Award for Best Supporting Actor, establishing him internationally. In the role of the curious, story-hungry orphan, Cascio embodied the innocence and wonder of childhood in the face of the magic of cinema.

Although he acted in a few other subsequent films, such as "C'era un castello con 40 cani" (1990) and "Jackpot" (1992), none of his later appearances achieved the same resonance. Cascio has remained etched in the collective imagination almost exclusively for his iconic debut role, a universal symbol of the discovery and love for the seventh art.
