Sandrine Bonnaire (born May 31, 1967) is a French actress and director, primarily known for her intense film career.

Her career took off in 1983 with Maurice Pialat's *À nos amours*, a film that marked her breakthrough and earned her the César Award for Most Promising Actress. The role that definitively established her was that of the rebellious homeless woman Mona in Agnès Varda's *Sans toit ni loi* (1985), for which she won the César Award for Best Actress.

Bonnaire is distinguished by her ability to portray strong women, often marginalized or in search of freedom, with always authentic and natural performances. Among her most significant collaborations are those with Claude Chabrol (*La Cérémonie*, 1995, alongside Isabelle Huppert), Patrice Leconte (*Monsieur Hire*, 1989), and Jacques Rivette (*Jeanne la Pucelle*, 1994).
