Serge Reggiani
**Serge Reggiani (1922-2004)**, an actor of Italian origin and icon of French cinema, stood out for his dramatic intensity, husky voice, and magnetic presence. He often played complex, solitary, and tormented characters, whether they were workers, intellectuals, or marginal figures in crime, always with profound dignity and melancholy.
His talent shone under the direction of great masters. With Jean-Pierre Melville, he brought to life memorable characters from the polar genre, such as the sly Maurice Faugel in “Le Doulos” (1962) and the heroic resistance fighter Guy Cassard in “L'Armée des ombres” (1969). He also appeared in Luchino Visconti's “Il Gattopardo” (1963), in the role of Don Ciccio. Other iconic roles include Manda in Jacques Becker's “Casque d'or” (1952) and the bitter Paul in Claude Sautet's “Vincent, François, Paul... et les autres” (1974). Reggiani left an indelible mark on cinema with his ability to infuse his characters with humanity and depth.
