**Sofiko Chiaureli** (Tbilisi, 1937 – Tbilisi, 2008) was an internationally renowned Georgian actress. An iconic figure in Soviet and Georgian cinema, she is best known for her collaborations with director Sergei Parajanov.
In the masterpiece *The Color of Pomegranates* (Sayat Nova, 1969), she played several roles, both male and female, demonstrating extraordinary versatility and expressive intensity that made her recognizable worldwide. She also worked with other important directors, including Giorgi Danelia in *Mimino* (1977), a Soviet cult film.
Chiaureli was known for her magnetic presence and ability to embody complex, often enigmatic or symbolic characters, with a performance characterized by deep emotion and understated elegance. Considered one of the greatest actresses of Caucasian cinema, her career left an indelible mark.
