Sully Boyar (1923-2001) was an American character actor, renowned for his supporting roles in drama and thriller films, particularly in the 1970s. His performances often featured nervous, anxious, or pressured characters, lending a raw realism and unexpected vulnerability.

He left his mark in iconic films such as *The French Connection* (1971), where he played Popeye Doyle's cellmate, and *The Godfather Part II* (1974), in the role of Frankie Pentangeli's brother. However, it was with the role of bank manager Mulvaney in *Dog Day Afternoon* (1975) that he gained the most recognition, delivering a memorable performance as a terrified hostage. Other notable credits include *Marathon Man* (1976). Boyar was a recognizable face who enriched every scene with his authentic and often subtly desperate presence.
