Sydney Chaplin
Sydney Earl Chaplin (1926-2009) was an American actor, son of the legendary Charlie Chaplin.
Although he also found success on Broadway (a Tony Award winner), his film career is inextricably linked to his father's productions. He is particularly remembered for key roles in two films directed by and starring his father: Terry, the loyal impresario in *Limelight* (1952), and the idealistic Rupert Macabee in *A King in New York* (1957). He also appeared in *A Countess from Hong Kong* (1967), his father's final film.
Chaplin Jr. distinguished himself with measured performances and often sophisticated, complex, or crucially supportive characters. Unlike his father, his style leaned more towards drama or comedy-drama, far removed from pure slapstick.
