Ted De Corsia (1903-1973) was a prolific American character actor, known for his ability to portray tough, often ambiguous, or villainous characters. His distinctive features and raspy voice made him ideal for roles as gangsters, corrupt policemen, criminals, or tormented everymen.

He was a consistent presence in film noir, where he excelled in films such as The Naked City (1948) in the memorable role of the murderer, and The Enforcer (1951) as a ruthless gangster. He collaborated with Stanley Kubrick in The Killing (1956), playing a cynical robber. Other significant appearances include 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea (1954) and Suddenly! (1954). De Corsia distinguished himself with his intensity and realism, becoming a recognizable face in American genre cinema for over three decades.
