**Terry Gilliam** (born November 22, 1940) is a British-American film director, screenwriter, and animator, best known for his work with Monty Python. After co-directing *Monty Python and the Holy Grail*, he embarked on a solo directing career, developing a unique and recognizable style.

His works, often dreamlike, surreal, and visually rich, range from the fantastical to the dystopian. Among his most celebrated films are the dystopian masterpiece *Brazil* (1985), the epic *The Adventures of Baron Munchausen* (1988), and the science fiction thriller *12 Monkeys* (1995).
