Ulrich Mühe
**Ulrich Mühe (1953-2007)** was a German actor, known for his intense stage presence and a career that spanned theatre and cinema.
He achieved international fame with his role as Captain Gerd Wiesler in the Oscar-winning masterpiece *The Lives of Others* (Das Leben der Anderen, 2006). In this masterful performance, he embodied the complexity of a Stasi officer tormented by his duty, demonstrating a unique ability to express deep inner conflicts with subtlety.
Among his other significant roles are those in Michael Haneke's *Funny Games* (1997) and Costa-Gavras's *Amen.* (2002). Mühe was often cast as introspective, morally ambiguous characters or those facing ethical dilemmas, endowed with a quiet intensity. His premature death deprived cinema of an extraordinary talent.
