Vito Annichiarico
Vito Annichiarico (Rome, 1934 – 1999) was an Italian film actor, an unforgettable character actor of *commedia all'italiana*.
His career took off with the role of Romolo, the charming and naive Roman "urchin," in Dino Risi's masterpiece *Poveri ma belli* (1957). He also played the same character in the sequels *Belle ma povere* (1957) and *Poveri milionari* (1959), solidifying his image.
Annichiarico specialized in portraying characters from the common people, often good-natured and somewhat simple-minded, but always endowed with great humanity and irony. His small stature and mischievous expression made him ideal for roles as a "boy from the working-class suburbs," a loyal friend, or a comic foil. Other significant films include *Il mattatore* (1960) and *Il medico della mutua* (1968). Though he never played absolute leading roles, his screen presence and natural comedic talent made him a beloved and recognizable face of Italian cinema of that era.
