Vladimir Barski
**Vladimir Barski** (1866–1936) was a Russian film actor, a prominent figure of Soviet silent cinema. He is known for his collaboration with iconic directors such as Sergei Eisenstein and Vsevolod Pudovkin.
He is perhaps best remembered for his role as the brutal Commander Golikov in Eisenstein's masterpiece, *Battleship Potemkin* (1925), and as the General in Pudovkin's revolutionary drama *Mother* (1926). He also appeared in Eisenstein's *October* (1927).
Barski specialized in authoritarian characters, often Tsarist officers, government officials, or reactionary figures of power, which he portrayed with an imposing screen presence and a severe expression. His acting helped define some of the most memorable antagonistic figures of early Soviet cinema.
