Walter Catlett
**Walter Catlett (1889-1960)** was a prolific American character actor, known for his rapid-fire delivery and nervous, often comedic or pompous character roles. With a career spanning decades, he appeared in over 100 films.
Catlett was a master at portraying agitated figures, overzealous employees, or goofy characters who found themselves in ridiculous situations. Among his most memorable film roles were the cynical lawyer in *Mr. Deeds Goes to Town* (1936), Sheriff Slocum in *Bringing Up Baby* (1938), and Mr. Osborne in *The Major and the Minor* (1942).
His most celebrated and enduring performance, however, was vocal: Catlett voiced J. Worthington Foulfellow, the fox "Honest John," in the classic Disney animated film *Pinocchio* (1940), imbuing the character with his distinctive fast-paced and deceitful delivery. His unique style made him a recognizable face and voice in classic Hollywood cinema.
