**Walter Huston (1883-1950)** was a prolific American actor, known for his extraordinary versatility and his ability to portray a wide range of characters. Excelling in character roles, he often embodied complex figures: wise old men, paternal figures, rugged adventurers, or morally ambiguous individuals.

His most notable performances include those in *Dodsworth* (1936) and *The Devil and Daniel Webster* (1941), for which he received Academy Award nominations. He won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his memorable portrayal of Howard in *The Treasure of the Sierra Madre* (1948), directed by his son John Huston. Other important films include *Yankee Doodle Dandy* (1942) and *Duel in the Sun* (1946).

His style was characterized by a measured yet intense performance, a distinctive voice, and profound authenticity, making his characters immediately believable.
