
Asghar Farhadi
**Asghar Farhadi** (born in 1972) is an acclaimed Iranian film director and screenwriter, known for his psychological dramas that explore the complexities of human relationships and moral dilemmas.
His international recognition came with "About Elly" (2009), which won the Silver Bear at Berlin. Global success surged with "A Separation" (2011), winner of the Golden Bear at Berlin and the first Iranian Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film. He replicated the Oscar with "The Salesman" (2016).
His style is distinguished by raw realism, tense narration, and ordinary characters confronting difficult ethical choices. His films, imbued with psychological suspense, delve into themes such as truth, lies, social justice, and family dynamics, often featuring open endings that invite reflection. Among his works is also "Everybody Knows" (2018), his first Spanish-language film.
