**Bryan Singer** (born 1965) is an American film director and producer, known for having directed some of the most influential films of recent decades.
His breakthrough came with the neo-noir thriller *The Usual Suspects* (1995), acclaimed for its intricate plot, stylized direction, and surprising ending, which earned him a BAFTA. Subsequently, he redefined the comic book film genre with *X-Men* (2000) and *X2* (2003), helping to imbue mutant characters with seriousness and psychological depth and paving the way for the modern era of superhero blockbusters.
Among his subsequent works are *Superman Returns* (2006) and the historical drama *Valkyrie* (2008), starring Tom Cruise. His style is often characterized by complex narratives, multifaceted characters, and the exploration of themes such as identity and being 'different' or marginalized. He also directed much of *Bohemian Rhapsody* (2018), a worldwide success.
