**Ciro Guerra** (born 1981) is a Colombian film director and screenwriter, a prominent figure in contemporary Latin American cinema. He gained recognition with works such as *La sombra del caminante* (2004), his directorial debut, and *Los viajes del viento* (2009), which premiered at Cannes.

His most celebrated film is *El abrazo de la serpiente* (2015), a black-and-white odyssey through the Colombian Amazon, nominated for an Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film. He then co-directed *Pájaros de verano* (2018) with Cristina Gallego, an epic tale about drug trafficking and Wayuu culture.

Guerra's style is distinguished by visual elegance, contemplative pacing, and a deep exploration of themes related to history, cultural identity, and the relationship between humanity and nature, often through the lens of indigenous cultures and narratives that defy linear time.
