David Hand

**David Hand (1900-1986)** was an influential British director and animator, best known for his pioneering work at Walt Disney Productions.

At Disney, Hand held key roles as supervising director for iconic films such as "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs" (1937) and "Bambi" (1942), contributing significantly to the development of animation techniques and the studio's narrative quality. He was a central figure in the Golden Age of Disney animation, often credited for overseeing complex production processes and standardizing the visual style.

After leaving Disney in 1944, Hand returned to the United Kingdom to found Gaumont British Animation (GB Animation). Here, he produced series like "Animaland" and "Musical Paintbox," aiming to create a high-quality British animation industry that could compete with the American one. His style is characterized by fluid animation, attention to detail, and clear storytelling, elements inherited from his Disney experience but applied in a more autonomous context.
