Jean-Pierre Dardenne

**Jean-Pierre Dardenne** (born 1951) is a Belgian film director, screenwriter, and producer, renowned for his prolific artistic collaboration with his brother, Luc Dardenne.

The duo began their careers with documentaries, before distinguishing themselves in fiction cinema with a markedly realistic and social style. Their films explore the precarity, moral dilemmas, and human dignity of characters often marginalized or in situations of crisis. Characteristic features include the use of handheld cameras, long takes, the almost complete absence of non-diegetic soundtracks, and a raw narrative style that immerses the viewer in the protagonists' reality.

Among their most significant works, both recipients of the Palme d'Or at Cannes, are *Rosetta* (1999) and *L'Enfant* (2005). Other acclaimed titles include *The Kid with a Bike* (2011), *Two Days, One Night* (2014), and *Tori and Lokita* (2022), which solidify their filmmaking as a profound exploration of the contemporary human condition.
