Jim Sharman
Jim Sharman (b. 1945), Australian director and screenwriter, is primarily known for directing the cult film *The Rocky Horror Picture Show* (1975). This iconic work, a fusion of musical, science fiction, horror, and camp comedy, redefined the "midnight movie" genre and solidified his status as a pioneer of cinematic counterculture.
He also directed its thematic sequel, *Shock Treatment* (1981). His other film works include *Summer of Secrets* (1976) and *The Night the Prowler* (1978). Sharman's style is characterized by a visually bold and theatrical aesthetic, often exploring themes of identity, sexuality, and rebellion against social conventions, with a touch of satire and dark humor. His influence endures, particularly in independent and queer cinema.
