**Katia Lund** is a Brazilian director and producer, internationally known for her contribution to social and realistic cinema.
She rose to prominence for co-directing, alongside Fernando Meirelles, the award-winning and acclaimed *Cidade de Deus* (City of God, 2002), an epic film about violence and growth in Rio de Janeiro's favelas, which earned her global acclaim.
Prior to this success, she had distinguished herself in documentary filmmaking with works such as *Notícias de uma Guerra Particular* (News from a Personal War, 1999), which explored the reality of drug trafficking in the favelas. She continued to explore these themes with the television series *Cidade dos Homens* (City of Men), a spin-off of *City of God*.
Her style is characterized by a strong realism, dynamic storytelling, and the frequent use of non-professional actors, offering a raw yet empathetic look into the complex social realities and youth life in Brazilian peripheries.
