**László Nemes** (1977) is an acclaimed Hungarian director known for his intense and historically immersive style. After studying film and working as an assistant to Béla Tarr, he achieved international fame with his debut, *Saul fia* (Son of Saul, 2015).

The film, a raw and claustrophobic immersion into the Holocaust through the narrow perspective of its protagonist, won the Grand Prix at Cannes and the Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film. His second feature film, *Napszállta* (Sunset, 2018), continues his exploration of crucial historical moments, set in Budapest in 1913.

Nemes is characterized by his distinctive use of close-up shots and obsessive attention to sound, creating a visceral experience that draws the viewer into the minds of the characters, making far-reaching historical events tangible.
