Leos Carax
**Leos Carax** (real name Alexandre Christophe Dupont, born in 1960) is a French director, screenwriter, and actor, known for his visually striking and dreamlike films. His career is marked by the so-called “Alex trilogy,” starring Denis Lavant: *Boy Meets Girl* (1984), *Mauvais Sang* (1986), and *Les Amants du Pont-Neuf* (1991). These films are characterized by deep melancholy, poetic imagery, and extreme, often tragic romanticism.
After a period of lesser activity, he regained international success with the surreal and chameleon-like *Holy Motors* (2012), an odyssey about performance and identity. His most recent film, *Annette* (2021), is an atypical and stylistically daring musical. His distinctive style blends the real with the dreamlike, emotional intensity with breathtaking aesthetics, making him a unique figure in contemporary cinema.
