**Ron Fricke** (born in 1953) is an American director and cinematographer, known for his distinctive non-narrative filmmaking style. He gained recognition as the cinematographer and co-editor of *Koyaanisqatsi* (1982), a film that established his visual approach.
His most celebrated directorial work is *Baraka* (1992), a breathtaking visual exploration of the world and its cultures, filmed in 24 countries. He followed this with *Samsara* (2011), another epic film that delves into similar themes. His films are characterized by the extensive use of time-lapse and slow motion, with footage of sweeping landscapes, ancient rituals, and modern urban life. Devoid of dialogue or conventional plot, they are conceived as visual meditations on the interconnectedness between nature, humanity, and spirituality, offering a profound and universal perspective.
