Tom Hooper
**Tom Hooper** (London, 1972) is an acclaimed British director and producer, known for his historical dramas and film adaptations.
After starting his career in television, he gained international recognition with the film *The King's Speech* (2010), which won four Academy Awards, including Best Picture and Best Director for Hooper himself. The film is an example of his predilection for intense biographical stories and high-calibre acting performances.
He then directed the successful musical adaptation *Les Misérables* (2012), also awarded several Academy Awards, and the biographical drama *The Danish Girl* (2015). His style is often characterized by lavish direction and the ability to create visually rich worlds, although he has sometimes been criticized for a more traditional approach. His most recent work includes the controversial adaptation of the musical *Cats* (2019).
