Charmian Carr
Charmian Carr, born Charmian Anne Farnon (Chicago, December 27, 1942 – Los Angeles, September 17, 2016), was an American actress and singer, universally known for portraying Liesl von Trapp, the eldest daughter, in the 1965 musical film *The Sound of Music*. Although she portrayed a sixteen-year-old, the actress was already twenty-one during filming. Her artistic career, although primarily linked to this iconic role, also includes a role in the Stephen Sondheim television film *Evening Primrose* (1966), alongside Anthony Perkins. After this experience, Carr left acting to start a successful career as an interior designer, founding the company Charmian Carr Design in Encino, California, with clients including Michael Jackson. Later in life, she maintained a strong connection to her character, writing two memoirs, *Forever Liesl* and *Letters to Liesl*, in which she shared her memories and the lasting cultural impact of the film on her life and on audiences.
