Duane Dudley Chase, born December 12, 1950, is an American actor and software engineer, best known for playing the role of Kurt von Trapp in the 1965 musical film *The Sound of Music*. His career as a child actor also includes a small part in the 1966 Disney film *Follow Me, Boys!*. After leaving acting as a teenager, Chase focused on his studies, earning a master's degree in geology. He then pursued a professional career away from Hollywood, working as a geophysical engineer and, subsequently, as a software designer for the oil and mining industry. Although his film career was brief, his contribution to the success of *The Sound of Music*, which won five Academy Awards including Best Picture, has secured him lasting recognition in popular culture.
