Elliott Reid was an American actor and screenwriter, known for his versatility and his familiar face in numerous film and television productions of the 20th century. His career was marked by memorable supporting roles, such as that of private investigator Ernie Malone in *Gentlemen Prefer Blondes* (1953), where he acted alongside Jane Russell and Marilyn Monroe. He is also famous for portraying Shelby Ashton, the antagonist to Professor Brainard, in the Disney comedies *The Absent-Minded Professor* (1961) and its sequel, *Son of Flubber* (1963). In a dramatic capacity, he distinguished himself in the role of prosecutor Davenport in the classic film *Inherit the Wind* (1960). In addition to acting, he was a skilled impressionist, known for his impersonation of President John F. Kennedy.
