H.N. Clugston
H.N. Clugston was an American screenwriter, active primarily in the 1940s and 1950s. Known for his versatility, he worked on screenplays for various genres, notably musicals and westerns. His most significant works include the screenplay for the musical film *State Fair* (1945), co-written with Oscar Hammerstein II. He also co-wrote the western noir *Blood on the Moon* (1948), starring Robert Mitchum, and the musical parody *Red Garters* (1954). For the latter film, Clugston received a Writers Guild of America Award nomination for Best Written American Musical, a testament to his contribution to the cinema of the era. His career, although concentrated in a relatively short period, saw him participate in several important productions of the Classical Hollywood era.
