Ernestine Jane Geraldine Russell (1921-2011) was an American actress, singer, and model, considered one of Hollywood's leading sex symbols in the 1940s and 1950s. She was launched by producer Howard Hughes in the controversial film *The Outlaw* (1943), which established her bold image and made her a famous pin-up. Her most iconic role is arguably in the musical *Gentlemen Prefer Blondes* (1953), alongside Marilyn Monroe, where she showcased notable comedic and singing talents. Her filmography includes successes such as the comedy *The Paleface* (1948) with Bob Hope and films noir like *His Kind of Woman* (1951) and *Macao* (1952), both with Robert Mitchum. In addition to acting, she pursued a musical career, recording several albums. For her contribution to cinema, she received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and left her hand and footprints in the forecourt of Grauman's Chinese Theatre in Hollywood, honors that attest to her status as a legend of the golden age of cinema.
