Jean Dixon (1893–1981) was an American actress, active predominantly in theatre but with significant forays into film. Her Broadway career, which began in 1926, established her as a talented character actress specializing in comedic and witty roles, often in plays by authors such as George S. Kaufman and Moss Hart. Among her most celebrated stage performances are those in *June Moon* (1929), *Once in a Lifetime* (1930), and especially *The Man Who Came to Dinner* (1939), where she originated the iconic role of the nurse, Miss Preen. On the big screen, she is noted for supporting roles in films such as *My Man Godfrey* (1936), in which she played the maid Molly, and *Holiday* (1938), alongside Katharine Hepburn and Cary Grant. Despite a long and critically acclaimed career, her main formal recognition was a Tony Award nomination for Best Featured Actress in a Play in 1960 for her performance in *The Gang's All Here*.
