Nikolai Bentsler

Nikolai Dmitrievich Bentsler, born in 1984 in Sverdlovsk (now Yekaterinburg), is a Russian theater and film actor and a prominent figure in the contemporary scene. He graduated from the Yekaterinburg State Theatre Institute in 2005 and became one of the leading actors at the Kolyada-Theatre, under the direction of the renowned playwright and director Nikolai Kolyada. His career is marked by performances of great intensity and versatility; his notable roles include Hamlet in the eponymous Shakespearean tragedy, Chichikov in Gogol's *Dead Souls*, and Treplev in Chekhov's *The Seagull*. He is also acclaimed for his performances in Kolyada's own plays. For his work, he has received prestigious awards: in 2011, he was awarded the Golden Mask, Russia's most prestigious theatre award, for Best Actor for his role in the play *A Streetcar Named Desire*. In 2021, he was awarded the title of Honored Artist of the Russian Federation in recognition of his significant contribution to the country's cultural landscape.
