Pierre Barouh
Pierre Barouh, born Elie Barouh (1934-2016), was a French singer-songwriter, actor, and record producer. His international fame is inextricably linked to Claude Lelouch's 1966 film *A Man and a Woman*, in which he had an acting role and for which he wrote the lyrics of the famous title song, performing it with Nicole Croisille to music by Francis Lai. A key figure in French music, in 1965 he founded his record label, Saravah, through which he launched innovative artists such as Jacques Higelin, Brigitte Fontaine, and Areski Belkacem, establishing himself as one of the most important talent scouts of his time. A pioneer in introducing bossa nova to France, his musical style was a synthesis of chanson and Brazilian rhythms, as demonstrated by his famous song "Samba Saravah". His contribution is recognized both for the worldwide success of the soundtrack and for his role as an independent producer and forerunner.
