Taylor Holmes (1878-1959) was an American stage and film actor whose career spanned over fifty years, from vaudeville to the Hollywood sound era. After a solid start on the Broadway stage, he made his screen debut in 1917, quickly establishing himself as a versatile and prolific character actor. Throughout his filmography, which includes over one hundred films, he often portrayed authoritarian, aristocratic, or wealthy figures. Among his most notable roles are his performance in *Nightmare Alley* (1947) and the part of the wealthy Mr. Esmond Sr. in the famous comedy *Gentlemen Prefer Blondes* (1953). One of his last and most celebrated performances was voicing King Stefan in the Disney animated classic *Sleeping Beauty* (1959). For his contribution to the motion picture industry, he was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
